The MOST EXPENSIVE Resort Project in Las Vegas History: Resorts World

December 2, 2022 · By My Vegas Limo Tour

Situated on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada, Resorts World is the most expensive project ever undertaken in Vegas. It’s also the city’s first new resort since the Cosmopolitan opened in 2010, and it’s one of the most popular attractions in the area today.

What is Resorts World?

Resorts World isn’t exclusive to Las Vegas. It’s owned by Genting Group, a Malaysian company, and it’s just one of several properties that belong to its Resorts World brand. Four of the properties can be found in the United States; they are in Las Vegas, New York City, the Catskills Mountains, and Miami. There’s another location in Bimini, which is in the Bahamas.

Southeast Asia – Malaysia, in particular – is home to the largest concentration of Resorts World properties. You can visit them in Pahang, Terengganu, Langkawi and Manila, and there’s a solitary location on Sentosa Island in Singapore. As of the time of writing, a second Resorts World is under construction on the west side of Manila. A handful of Resorts World properties exist in other parts of the world, including Birmingham in the UK and Jeju Island in South Korea. Resorts World at Macau is currently under construction, too.

Resort & Hotels

Resorts World Las Vegas officially opened its doors on June 24, 2021. When all was said and done, the overall cost to build the venue peaked at a staggering $4.3 billion. It’s the most expensive resort property ever developed in Vegas, and it includes a 117,000 square foot casino and three Hilton hotels inside one massive 59-story tower: Crockfords Las Vegas, Las Vegas Hilton at Resorts World, and Conrad Las Vegas at Resorts World. Combined, these hotels provide more than 3,500 rooms to tourists and others, and they’re regarded as some of the most upscale hotels in the city.

What Resorts World Brings to Vegas

Resorts World is more than just another casino and hotel. In fact, it offers activities that rival some of the city’s most famous venues, including Excalibur, Luxor, and others. It boasts a 5,000-seat theater, a 75,000 square foot nightclub (and day club for the younger crowd), an on-site luxury spa, and a massive underground tunnel that would allow guests to travel between the resort and the Las Vegas Convention Center. You can also find on-site shopping at The District, a 75,000 square-foot venue on two floors, and if you’re looking for something intriguing to see, check out The Globe. It’s a 50-foot diameter globe that is 40 feet tall, and it uses LED panels to project interactive imagery across more than 20 million pixels.

The opening ceremony included a VIP party, but the venue opened to the public on June 24, 2021 at 11:00pm. There were fireworks as well as a lion dance and dragon dance, which are said to bring good luck and fortune to participants. More than 20,000 people were in attendance on opening night, with 5,500 at the VIP party alone. A Grand Opening celebration took place on July 4, 2021, as well, and Miley Cyrus was the opening act.

Dining at Resorts World

Resorts World is also home to some of the finest dining in all of Las Vegas and it offers more than 40 different food and beverage experiences for its patrons to explore. Some of the most popular venues include Brezza, which offers traditional Italian cuisine; Carversteak, which is a modern steakhouse that serves not only classic American cuts, but also Japanese-certified Wagyu beef; and Wally’s, which is a market, restaurant, and wine bar rolled into one exceptional experience. You’ll also find a Japanese bistro, Chinese cuisine, and vegan dining options.

If you’re planning a vacation, don’t forget to schedule your Las Vegas limo tour so that you can see all of the major attractions. Then, spend some time at Resorts World, which is by far one of the most ambitious and costliest projects ever completed in the city.
